Tatami room with futons laid out

Why it's easier here with little ones

Tatami room with futons downstairs
Tatami room with futons downstairs
  • A whole house: no worrying about night waking or little feet disturbing other guests
  • Futons on tatami: no high beds to roll off, and you can sleep side by side
  • Baby chair with straps and tray, table corner guards, books and toys for different ages
  • Blackout curtains for naps and light summer mornings
  • Free washer-dryer: wash and dry today's clothes before tomorrow
  • Free parking for 2 cars on the grounds (enter via the parking-side gate): no hotel lobby or lift to get through with a sleeping child

About 4 in 10 of the Japanese families who have stayed with us brought a child aged 3 or under (Oct 2024 – Oct 2026).

Play and wash

Picture books and toys for different ages. A proper bathtub for bath time, with towels and toiletries. The free washer-dryer is in the laundry room just outside the front door.

A day here with a toddler

  1. 3 PM onwards: Arrive (check-in runs until 10 PM, so late flights are fine) and park on the grounds, entering via the parking-side gate. The little one crawls the tatami while you unpack.
  2. Afternoon: Nap with the blackout curtains drawn, or a run to the supermarket about 5 minutes away for milk and snacks.
  3. Evening: Dinner in the kitchen, or early at a local restaurant (many close around 9 PM). Bath in the tub, laundry in the washer-dryer, bed on the futons.
  4. Morning: Breakfast by the window over the garden, then out: LEGOLAND, an aquarium, or the play park at Kariya Highway Oasis.
  5. Last day: Check out at 11 AM. Chubu Centrair Airport is about 35 minutes away.

Floor plan

Downstairs: the living and dining room, kitchen, the tatami room with three futons, and the bathroom. Upstairs: a bedroom with two semi-double beds.

The tatami room is on the same floor as the living room, so adults can stay close by once the children are asleep.

The upstairs bedroom is reached by stairs, so please keep an eye on small children.

Who sleeps where

  • Two adults and a baby: everyone together on the futons downstairs, next to the living room. Or use the upstairs beds and keep the tatami room for naps.
  • Two adults and two small children: futons downstairs for the whole family, so no one has to climb the stairs at night.
  • With grandparents (up to 5): grandparents upstairs on the two semi-double beds, parents and little ones on the futons downstairs.

Three nights with a toddler

  1. Day 1: Arrive, supermarket run, early night on the futons.
  2. Day 2: LEGOLAND Japan in the morning, home for a nap, then the Ferris wheel at Kariya Highway Oasis.
  3. Day 3: Ghibli Park's Grand Warehouse play rooms with a picnic in the Expo park, or the Port of Nagoya Aquarium (closed on Mondays, next day if a holiday; open daily in Golden Week, July–September and school holidays).
  4. Day 4: A slow breakfast, check out at 11 AM, 35 minutes to the airport.

Getting here with a little one

  • By rental car from Chubu Centrair Airport: about 35 minutes. Japanese law requires a child seat for children under 6, so add one to your rental booking.
  • Late arrival? Check-in is from 3 PM to 10 PM, and there is free parking for 2 cars on the grounds (enter via the parking-side gate), so you don't need to find a public car park late at night.
  • What to bring: nappies, formula or baby food, and your child's usual toiletries. Supermarkets nearby sell everyday items too. If you need anything else, message us on Airbnb before you arrive.
  • Child seat (rental car)
  • Nappies and wipes
  • Formula or baby food
  • Baby toiletries
  • Carrier for theme parks

Good to know

  • The house sits among rice fields. In the warm months there are insects, and we provide insect repellent.
  • Laundry is hung on the upstairs balcony rather than indoors. The washer-dryer also dries.
  • The house guide lists a 24-hour emergency centre about 10 minutes away by car, and Aichi's emergency medical information line. In an emergency, call 119.

Before you book

Do babies pay?

Children under 3 stay free. If you're unsure how to enter the guest count, ask us via Airbnb message. The price depends on the number of guests, and Airbnb shows the total for your group.

How many people can stay?

Up to 5 guests: two semi-double beds upstairs and three futons in the tatami room downstairs.

Is there a supermarket nearby?

Yes. A supermarket is about 5–6 minutes by car, and a large discount store about 10 minutes, open until late (hours as of October 2026).

Can we prepare baby food?

Yes. The kitchen has a microwave, IH stove, rice cooker, pots and tableware, and the baby chair pulls up to the dining table.

We'll arrive late with a sleeping child.

Check-in runs until 10 PM, and there is free parking for 2 cars on the grounds (enter via the parking-side gate). The tatami room is on the ground floor, so there are no stairs to climb with a sleeping child.

What if we can't get Ghibli Park tickets?

Plenty to do instead: LEGOLAND Japan, SEA LIFE Nagoya, the Port of Nagoya Aquarium, and the Ferris wheel and play area at Kariya Highway Oasis, 7 minutes away.

Are there pets?

The family's cats live on the grounds, but they don't come into the guesthouse.

Is it quiet at night?

Very. The house sits among rice fields in a residential area. Please keep it quiet after 9 PM.
